Working at SHADES

Are you looking for a rewarding experience working with children in a supportive environment?  Join the SHADES Team!  SHADES of Development is an equal opportunity employer. Pay rates are based on experience and education with no late nights or weekends ever. We are looking for permanent part-time employees to work Monday – Friday with students afterschool and in the summer.  Candidates availabile only two to four weekdays per week may be eligible for a sustitute position. 

School-year shifts are 12:30pm-6:00pm, or 2:00pm-6:00pm Monday – Friday

Summer shifts are 7:00am-12:30pm or 12:30-pm-6:00pm Monday – Friday

Current Openings:

Out-of-School Time (OST) Specialists

Out of School Time (OST) Specialist plan and lead activities with students afterschool and during Out of School Time hours such as school breaks and in the summer.

  • Typical hours are part-time from
    • 2:00-6:00pm M-F for elementary programs
    • 12:30pm-6:00pm for PreK programs
    • 3:00pm-6:30pm for Middle School programs
  • Candidates must have experience working with children and possess skills, hobbies or interests to share with or teach children
  • Must be 18 years or older and a high school graduate

Substitutes

Substitute positions are a great way to get experience working with children and get your foot in the door as a staff member. SHADES works hard to place substitutes in more permanent positions as schedules align and openings present themselves.

  • Folks interested in working with children, but are only available two to four weekdays per week between the hours of 12:30pm-6:00pm or 2:00pm-6:00pm may apply for a substitute position.
  • Substitutes must be available for the full duration of at at least two shifts per week and dedicate that time to work at SHADES each week to be considered for employment.
  • Substitutes must be willing to work at multiple locations with varying age groups. 

Tutors

Tutors work with individual and small groups to improve understanding and applications in math, reading and language arts. Tutors typically work from 3:30 – 5:30pm in our elementary school programs and 4:00pm to 6:00pm in our middle school programs.

All staff members may be asked to work extended hours on half days, in-service days and full-day service days.

All Staff members must clear a background check and drug test.
